Land Down Under

That's certainly a CRUDE title...but it made me giggle as I wrote it.  (I would blame it on the 13 year old I live with rubbing off on me....) Wednesday was our first early out of the school year.  I tried to get as many appointments taken care of BEFORE school started so that I could be present during PD and not have to write sub plans.  When I met with my OBGYN about my hysterectomy consult, she'd told me to call and get on the schedule, and said I could always cancel if needed.  WELLLLLL....I tried that but ended up having to make an appointment to sign. consent. forms.  Really?  A quarter day to sign forms?  Yup.  AND she made me step on the scale and have my blood pressure taken.....for forms.  ANNOYED.   I did ask if the cramping I've been experiencing could be from the Lupron and Anastrozole, and Dr. Masse said, "hmmmmm.  Not usually.  When's the last time you had an ultrasound?"  LORD.  "14 years ago."...

1 Down, 19 to Go....

 We're back!  We got home from the most amazing trip last night at about 6PM.  We slept 11 glorious hours, took Nolan to his 13 year old physical (they start the "turn your head at cough" at 13 apparently), and then I had my first radiation treatment! I laid down for a cat nap that turned into a nap nap, with an incorrect alarm...thankfully Jason woke me up and I ended up only being about 5 minutes late.  I always preach about good first impressions though, so that was kind of mortifying.  Anyway, I thought I would feel something or see something and I didn't.  I put on a gown from the waist up, and laid on a hard, sheet covered platform.  They rubber banded my feet together and adjusted me using my tattoos.  Then they left through the thickest door I've ever seen.  I thought there would be lasers or a zapping noise and I would feel burning.  HA!  How wrong I was.  They had 80s music on, a really cool light-up ceiling, and the ...

In Sickness and in Health

 Today Jason and I celebrate our 19th Anniversary! We started the "celebration" with a 1:55AM wake up call to take Nolan to school for his trip to Washington, D.C.!  An update on his day: first flight out of Des Moines was delayed 2 hours so they missed their Dallas connection.  After eating lunch they were bused to a different Dallas airport, where he will fly to St. Louis and arrive in DC 12 hours late, at about 9PM.  Hopefully.  He did have to check his carry-on luggage, so it will be interesting to see where that ends up.  I think he's having fun with friends!  I am proud of my "it's out of my circle of control" attitude. Jason and I fell back asleep between 4-5, the birds and sun wake up early in the summer.  Then Jason worked for a bit and we went to my Radiation Oncology appointment with Dr. Bodine.  We found out that he also has a 7th grade boy who goes to Nolan's school.  They were in choir and show choir together- he thought we...
